[Blocks] Stuck or Stalled? The 4G Guide to Getting Going – #1
Our focus for this month is getting you GOING! I’m teaching my 4G Guide to Getting You Going.
The first G is GROUND. If you are having an issue with anything, this is the first place you should look. Check Your Ground.
The hardest part about being stuck, is that feeling that you’ve “tried everything” and nothing is working. You have to take a deep breath and start over and follow the 4G’s in order.
You can find what you’ve missed in two ways: 1) if someone else (like a coach) is helping you or 2) you use a process to approach your problem.
Does it matter what you are stuck on? Nope. Losing weight – works. Writing a book – works. Figuring out if you need to stay in your relationship – works.
In most instances, you are stuck because you THINK you need something OUTSIDE of you to change. The 4G process is about first looking inside of YOU and then seeing how external things are helping or hurting you. It will unstick you.
How Do I “Check My GROUND?”
You are going to ask 5 questions that you will answer with a ONE word each.
One word answer because it’s just hard to lie to yourself without the extra words for an explanation or excuse (See my Ex-Energy Series)
Answer These Now:
- How is my energy around this challenge?
- How committed am I (judging from my continuous efforts)?
- How stable are my positive emotions about this challenge?
- How good is the timing to do this right now?
- How helpful is my environment right now?
If you told the truth, you just uncovered the one or more foundational factors keeping you stuck on whatever it is you are trying to do.
Energy: Low, High, Wiggly? If you energy isn’t at least medium when you hit a challenge, you have no momentum and cannot budge it. If it’s low, ask yourself why that is? And what can you do about it?
Commitment: None, Low, Off/On, Solid? If the ground beneath your feet does not have a SOLID commitment, you will stay stuck. Your head will cooperate with you and deliver up self-sabotage to keep you right where you are. And no, how much you SAY you ‘I want it’, is not the measure of commitment. Judge your commitment by your ACTIONS not your words.
Positive Emotions: Stable, Wiggly, None? If you don’t consistently feel good about the OUTCOME of whatever you are attempting to do, you will not be able to put in the work. Check your GROUND is about your WHY. Connect with that why. Be willing to end a commitment that you know you don’t feel good about.
Timing: Off, On, Great, Sucky? There are times when you cannot let sucky timing stop you and times when it means you should wait. Do you have a habit of bailing and using timing as an excuse? If so, stick. Do you have any control over the timing of what you choose to do? If so, exert it. Just know that there is NO SUCH THING AS PERFECT TIMING.
To get moving toward your dream, your health, getting out of debt or even having great sex, you first Check Your GROUND.

In Joy,
P.S. I have been tearing up my house. It truly looks like Wile E. Coyote spotted the Roadrunner in here and gave chase! Why? I finally figured out a few things: 1) I can return an item to it’s rightful home IF it has one but I have too many ‘homeless’ items = clutter. 2)I also have lots of stuff that has become “out of sight/out of mind” over the years.
That means, I had to dump EVERY closet and storage bin that was hidden to get it INTO PLAIN SIGHT so it bothers me! Then I can see if I still want it and assign it a proper home. If not? Donation time!
When I finish, I’ll probably design a Master Decluttering Workshop because I have learned both awesome & dumb stuff in this area over the last 10 years! I finally had to create my own process and it’s working for me. 🙂
So if you have clutter, hang in there. Mama is coming! If you want to be considered for anything special I do on this topic, reply with “Clutter” in the subject.
